Sono al tempo stesso affascinanti e grottesche, meravigliose ed alienanti, le stampe ritoccate dalla mano di Alessandro Calizza. Il nome del progetto “Greetings from here” rimanda alle cartoline che si inviavano ai propri affetti per mostrare le bellezze di un luogo o di una vacanza, una pratica ad oggi non più comune e sostituita dall’utilizzo della tecnologia più immediata. 

È proprio l’intervento dell’artista ad innescare dei cortocircuiti visivi e linguistici che ci fanno riflettere su quanto sia a volte fallace e “controllato” il nostro modo di vedere e percepire: i faraglioni di Lipari, i bisuoli delle ville panariote, le rocce e la natura di tutte le Eolie sono ora sospese in un tempo indefinito, dove non è più l’uomo ad essere presente, ma le sue tracce. Nella speranza che queste rovine del contemporaneo possano dar vita a riflessioni critiche e costruttive sul nostro presente e non restare solo futili macerie.

The prints retouched by the hand of Alessandro Calizza are at once fascinating and grotesque, marvelous and alienating. The project’s title, “Greetings from here,” refers to postcards once sent to loved ones to showcase the beauty of a place or vacation, a practice now obsolete and replaced by more immediate technology.

It is precisely the artist’s intervention that triggers visual and linguistic short circuits, prompting us to reflect on how our way of seeing and perceiving is sometimes fallacious and “controlled.” The Faraglioni of Lipari, the bisuoli of the Panariote villas, the rocks and nature of all the Aeolian Islands are now suspended in an indefinite time, where it is no longer man who is present, but his traces. The hope is that these ruins of the contemporary may inspire critical and constructive reflections on our present, rather than remaining just futile rubble.
