L’opera Didyme/Salina, realizzata da Leonardo Crudi sotto la curatela di Amaneï e con il patrocinio del Comune di Santa Marina Salina, è stata creata sui pannelli di Via Cristoforo Colombo che chiudono l’ingresso dell’antica centrale elettrica del comune. Questa centrale, la prima di tutte le Isole Eolie, venne fondata nel 1923 grazie ad Antonio Traina, un isolano emigrato negli Stati Uniti che, con la sua generosa donazione, dotò l’isola dell’energia elettrica.

A cento anni dalla sua costruzione, l’opera si propone come un elogio al progresso del passato e uno stimolo a riflettere sulle attuali tematiche di sostenibilità. Al centro del dipinto, le mani che si uniscono, immerse in lampi di luce che delineano il profilo delle due vette di Salina, evocano il legame tra la comunità isolana e il suo impegno verso il progresso. Questo messaggio, che intreccia memoria e visione, sottolinea come Salina, ieri come oggi, continui a essere un punto di riferimento per le Eolie, promuovendo efficienza energetica e fonti di energia rinnovabile.

The artwork Didyme/Salina, created by Leonardo Crudi under the curatorship of Amaneï and with the patronage of the Municipality of Santa Marina Salina, was painted on the panels of Via Cristoforo Colombo, which seal the entrance to the island’s old power plant. This plant, the first in all the Aeolian Islands, was founded in 1923 thanks to Antonio Traina, an islander who emigrated to the United States and, through his generous donation, provided the island with electricity.
